A Christmas Surprise From Author Peter May
I received the ultimate Christmas surprise when Peter May ordered a piece of my work, a print of the Callanish Stones and watercolour map of the Outer Hebrides.
For anyone who doesn’t know, Peter May is a Scottish author best known for his crime novels, particularly the Lewis Trilogy, which are set on the Isle of Lewis and have been read by millions worldwide.
Whilst packing his print, a sudden though occurred.
Around ten years ago, I read the Lewis Trilogy myself and loved being able to picture the places and landscapes described in the books so clearly. It felt like a full-circle moment, so I decided to include my book, Eileanan Òir, along with his order.
I just liked the idea that we would each have a copy of the other’s work in our homes.
May was kind enough to share a post holding my book, along with these generous words -
I ordered a watercolour map of the Outer Hebrides from Eilidh Jamieson at EJayDesign in Stornoway. Eilidh is a very talented artist and photographer who has a beautiful shop in the town, and also sells her work online at https://ejaydesign.com. The map arrived today with a very unexpected and generous gift of her sumptuous book, "Eileanan Òir, which is full of her artwork and photographs of the islands. It also included a very touching inscription. Thank you, Eilidh
