Exciting News: EJayDesign Has a New Home on Cromwell Street!

I’m excited to share that I've recently moved my business, EJayDesign, to a new location on Cromwell Street in Stornoway. After one year in a smaller shop on North Beach Street, I’m thrilled to have a fresh start in a more spacious and light-filled studio.

For those who don’t know, I specialise in creating personalised watercolour maps, often highlighted with hand-painted gold to mark special locations. The move to Cromwell Street means I now have the space to not only showcase my work but also to offer something new—a local gallery in the second room where I plan to display art from different local artists, catering to all ages.

This new studio is in the same location that was once the artistic workshop of Rosie Wiscombe’s ByRosie. At first, I was devastated to leave my North Beach shop in the middle of the tourist season on July 23rd, as I could not find a new premises. In the last week of my closing, by chance, the Cromwell shop changed owners, who then personally came in to offer me tenancy.

It is amazing how life can change so quickly and come with a blessing in disguise, as this move is a major a step up.

As I mentioned in a recent YouTube video, "This was supposed to be a sad video about me losing my shop, but I have found a new place, and it’s so much better and so much nicer, and it’s got space and light.”

A bit about my journey: EJayDesign started back in 2019 with an Etsy shop. In 2021, I expanded my product line to include mugs, tea towels, and clothing. I had the opportunity to exhibit my work in Edinburgh in 2022, and just last year, in 2023, I published a book of my watercolour maps titled Eileanan Oir (Golden Isles), which features beaches highlighted in gold, along with personal stories and snapshots of Hebridean life.
